Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric.
The Fabric Data Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build exciting capabilities to enable customers to be successful on Microsoft Fabric. This team owns the development of materialized lake views and provides opportunities to work with open-source Big Data components like Apache Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop. You'll enable developers to build, manage, and operate scalable data applications that leverage both Fabric-native capabilities and industry-standard big data frameworks with simplicity and SaaS-like efficiency.

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities :
As a key member of the team, you will work on delivering core Data Engineering capabilities for Microsoft Fabric: Design and build high-performance, scalable services for Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop new features and continuously improve our cloud-based SaaS platform—prioritizing efficiency, reliability, and security.
- Leverage LLM agents extensively in delivering high quality software at accelerated pace.
- Enhance open-source components to deliver enterprise grade performance, reliability and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Fabric App capabilities with other Microsoft Fabric services.
- Act as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring and investigating services for degradation, downtime and resolve technical issues to ensure service reliability and performance.
- Lead continuous improvement of development processes and tools for the engineering efficiency.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications :
- Atleast 10 years of experience in Software Engineer role :
- Proven experience building and shipping cloud-scale SaaS products.
- Strong programming skills in C#, Scala, Java, Python, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate expertise in coding standards, code reviews, design & architecture
Understanding data engineering concepts and big data platforms and an eagerness to work deeply with Microsoft Fabric. - Experience with Azure-based cloud services and distributed systems.
- Ability to debug complex distributed systems on Linux and/or Windows platforms.
Job Requirements: Other & Additional
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Demonstrated passion for building highly performant software in hackathons and engagement with developer community
- Contribution to open-source software and communities.
