Senior Data Scientist
Microsoft
This is an exciting time to join our group and work on something highly strategic to Microsoft. You will work on problems that directly influence product adoption, customer expansion, and revenue performance for Copilot Studio and AI agents.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will own end-to-end analytics and machine learning solutions that inform growth strategy, investment decisions, and execution priorities. You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to design experiments, build scalable models, and surface actionable insights that accelerate business outcomes. You will help translate complex and ambiguous business questions into clear metrics, forecasts, and insights – enabling leaders to understand what is driving growth, where bottleneck exist, and how to prioritize the highest-impact opportunities.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, business strategy, and execution, and who enjoys shaping decisions that have measurable impact on revenue and customer success. You will be a part of a team of data scientists and engineers who thrive on solving complex problems at scale while doing it with impeccable quality.
Responsibilities
• Build scalable growth intelligence: Design, develop, and productionize analytics, ML models, and AI-driven heuristics (e.g. forecasting, scoring, quality evaluation) support revenue planning, capacity modeling, and prioritization across Copilot Studio and Business Applications.
• Drive experimentation for business outcomes: Design and analyze experiments and quasi-experimental analyses to evaluate the impact of product features and go-to-market initiatives on key business metrics, ensuring insights translate into measurable growth.
• Partner to influence strategy: Collaborate closely with product, engineering, sales, finance, and research partners to define success metrics, align on growth goals, and embed data-driven decision-making into planning and execution processes.
• Operationalize analytics at scale: Build robust pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and monitoring systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and trust in production analytics and models that inform business-critical decisions.
• Communicate insights with executive clarity: Synthesize complex analyses into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leaders, enabling alignment, prioritization, and accelerated execution across the organization.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.

- Experience driving business growth outcomes, such as customer adoption, usage expansion, revenue optimization, cost efficiency, or investment prioritization, through data-driven insights.
- Experience partnering with product, engineering, sales, finance, or strategy teams to influence planning, roadmap prioritization, or go-to-market decisions.
- Hands-on experience building analytics, ML models, or AI-driven heuristics to support forecasting, scoring, performance measurement, or operational decision-making at scale.
- Experience with experimentation and measurement frameworks (e.g., A/B testing, causal inference, metric design) applied to business or operational impact, not just product UX optimization.
- Strong data engineering and analytics skills, including working with large-scale datasets in cloud or distributed environments (e.g. Kusto/Azure Data Explorer, Spark, Fabric, or similar)
- Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and concisely to senior leaders, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations.
- Professional experience writing SQL or Kusto queries to analyze large-scale datasets.
- Hands-on experience building or evaluating machine learning models using Python or R.
