As a CO+I Learning IT Technical Trainer you will contribute to establishing technical training delivery, workforce training needs analysis, and engaging with your team in procedural change management activities in support of the datacenters in your area of responsibility. You will leverage technical and adult learning fundamentals as you evaluate and report on training activities in the datacenters and develop your own skills while coaching your learners in their own career growth. Location is on-site in the datacenter with limited work from home opportunities.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation is the engine that powers our cloud services. As an IT Technical Trainer you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
Collaboration and Engagement
  • Provides course content feedback to broader Learning team (e.g., the courseware team) using appropriate internal team channels as necessary and independently. Provides up-to-date knowledge about the content area to content development peers and other cross-functional teams. Collaborates with curriculum managers to understand the content and ensure the full curriculum is being delivered by trainers. Connects operations and program team needs to learning programs and interventions and ensures compliance with necessary trainings. Executes on new training opportunities with other teams as necessary.
External
  • Begins to understand and define customer requirements by interpreting audience information and aligns training strategies to address these needs. Acts as a liaison to customers, demonstrating flexibility in adjusting training methods to meet evolving needs. Collaborates with sales teams to support diverse, multi-modality training sessions tailored for external customers. Uses social media platforms to support interactive learning experiences, improve training outcomes, and evangelize skilling and Microsoft products through a variety of modalities and platforms. Performs essential pre-delivery tasks, working alongside field teams and customers to enhance training sessions. Supports the Microsoft Certified Trainer community by providing readiness and enablement content, developing an understanding of excellence at scale.
Skilling Delivery
  • Delivers single to multi-day skilling offerings or other learning experiences either in person or virtually to target audience with minimal supervision. Focuses on training courses that are typically limited to a single topic area or specialization. Leverages multiple modes (e.g., presentations, discussions, labs, simulations) of learning to cover appropriate information. Embraces digitally enhanced instructor led capabilities to effectively deliver technology-based learning experiences. Creates recordings of training content, other video-based training, or new media assets to drive learning (e.g. webinar). Utilizes AI tools (e.g. Copilot) to drive efficiencies in learner engagement and skilling delivery.
  • Begins to engage with learners to ensure content and concepts are being understood and are aligned with learner goals (e.g., internal and external learner partnership). Applies classroom management techniques (e.g., flexible learning skills, behavioral reinforcement, time management) to reinforce learning, attendance, and engagement. Asks for questions and creates an environment where questions can arise. Contributes to monitoring the progress of learners on major topic areas to appropriately reinforce important learnings. Contributes to applying artificial intelligence to interact with and enhance the user experience (e.g., applying sentiment analysis to feedback). Begins to integrate AI tooling into the classroom to drive efficiency and engagement of offerings. Participates in practical or interactive lab activities to further build upon learning.
Skilling Preparation
  • Studies skill-based offerings, certifications, or other learning experiences as appropriate under the guidance of others. Builds on baseline portfolio with multiple classes as appropriate or other skilling offerings to teach or lead. Independently learns about new learning experience areas to develop technical knowledge. Builds experiences in collaboration with artificial intelligence systems by designing, interpreting, and refining the artificial intelligence inputs and outputs in order to create content that meets desired goals.
  • Begins to seek out key internal stakeholders, including new developments in the topic area, adjustments to previous content, and future improvements with the technology or processes. Stays updated on the latest AI advancements and broadens understanding of a technical domain. Executes on changes into skilling offerings in partnership with relevant stakeholders. Identifies opportunities for incorporating new features, technologies, and processes and begins to incorporate into appropriate learning experiences to ensure quality learning environment and delivery. Develops understanding of security priorities and explains this to other teams and learners.
  • Executes on skilling offerings for specific audience and learner goals and objectives. Contributes to translating technical skilling information and content into digestible language and terminology. Assists with structuring skilling offerings through developing technical understanding of adult learning principles and best practices. Contributes to aligning skilling preparation with relevant metrics for measuring success (e.g., cloud consumption, survey feedback). Utilizes AI tools (e.g. Copilot) to drive efficiencies in skilling preparation. Ensures that internal and external tooling aligns with MSFT security requirements with minimal guidance required. Demonstrates understanding and incorporates security principles in learning programs initiative development. Begins to leverage artificial intelligence to integrate planning and development motion into the flow of work, increase accessibility, automate notifications and updates, and ensure partners and stakeholders are updated in real time.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, System Engineering, Information Systems, Education, Adult Learning, Business Management, or a related field AND 2+ years experience in training, education, information technology (IT), cloud systems, datacenter environments, artificial intelligence, information security, server environments, networking, cloud, or computer technologies OR equivalent experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, System Engineering, Information Systems, Education, Adult Learning, Business Management, or related field AND 5+ years experience in training, education, information technology (IT), cloud systems, datacenter environments, artificial intelligence, information security, server environments, networking, cloud, or computer technologies OR equivalent experience.
  • Azure Certifications (e.g., Advanced Role Based, Fundamentals), Microsoft 365 Certifications, or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) Certification.
  • 1+ year(s) experience using AI technologies in workstreams.
  • Exceptional written and Interpersonal skills: communicate effectively and concisely with stakeholders and organizational leaders about our programs and objectives.
  • CompTIA CTT+ or equivalent technical training certification, or ability to complete within 6 months of hire
  • Current Industry framework certification (ITIL, Prince, Lean Six Sigma) or Technical Certification (CCNA, MCSE, NET+)


Technical Training IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.
