Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I CE Technician Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
- Lead a front‑line team of Critical Environment Technicians, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation of mechanical and electrical infrastructure in a 24×7 data centre environment.
- Own day‑to‑day operational execution, including preventive and corrective maintenance, alarm response, and incident handling, in line with global standards and approved procedures.
- Act as the first escalation point for operational, safety, and people issues, coordinating with the relevant stakeholders and partners during abnormal events.
- Enforce safety, work control, and procedural discipline, including procedural compliance, and stop‑work authority, while modelling expected behaviours through visible on‑site leadership.
- Drive team performance and development, conducting regular 1:1s, supporting qualification progression, and building a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure operational quality and readiness, maintaining accurate records, supporting audits, and contributing to standardisation and process improvements within the assigned scope.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields) OR relevant experience.
- People management experience.
- Experience in a specialized area (e.g., mechanical field, electrical field, controls field) or related field.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
