Our New York City office is looking for an Investment Banking Analyst to join Morgan Stanley’s Shareholder Activism and Corporate Defense Team (within the M&A Group). The Defense team advises public company clients and their boards of directors in the realm of shareholder activism defense, hostile takeover defense, corporate governance, and other varying shareholder relations and ESG matters. In this role, the successful candidate will work alongside other Shareholder Activism and Corporate Defense Bankers, as well as Industry Coverage and M&A bankers, on a number of prominent mandates across industries and geographies. They will play an important role on a growing team which includes recognized senior professionals and is considered a critical component of the firm's globally integrated investment banking model.
The roles and responsibilities of a Full-Time Analyst vary, but may include:
- Building and auditing complex and innovative analyses and datasets to identify key themes, trends and implications – both quantitatively and qualitatively
- Managing day-to-day deal execution on high-profile live defense mandates (including proxy contests and contested M&A) and pitches (to drive client marketing / targeting efforts)
- Partnering cross-functionally with all industry and geographical coverage officers, and other product teams, to deliver integrated client advice
- Analyzing detailed corporate, financial, legal, and regulatory information to inform decision-making while thinking strategically and tactically in complicated situations
- Maintaining a strong commercial instinct and ability to perform under tight deadlines and pressure, with strong interpersonal and client communication skills
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027
- Minimum 3.4 GPA
- Possess basic knowledge of and a keen interest in finance
- Analytical, adaptive, multi-tasker, team player and have a strong work ethic and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
