Position Highlights The Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering & Mechanics seeks a part time Research Technician III to help support the Santa Margarita Ranch project under Dr. Jennifer Duan. The Research Technician will focus on watershed modeling of flow and sediment transport by coordinating experiments, collecting data, and assist in the training of students.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete experiments with the use of computers, water measuring devices, and airborne imagery.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Compile and analyze collected data from experiments completed in the laboratory and in the field.
  • Train and assist undergraduate students on using various laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Assist the PI in developing proposals to obtain funding for ongoing research activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in data analysis and modeling.
  • Knowledge in arid watershed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrology.
  • Experience in hydrology and hydraulic models.
