Job Summary
As a Distinguished Engineer in the NetApp’s Keystone organization, you will be responsible for architectural innovation, mentoring other architects and shaping the future of Keystone architecture. You will be responsible for decomposing complex problems into simple solutions, understanding system interdependencies and limitations, and possessing expert knowledge in storage management (Ex: ONTAP), cloud architectures, performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, engineering best practices, and testing methods.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be responsible partnering with technical and product leaders of all major cloud provider, mentoring and developing others, influencing internal multiple NetApp teams, and making key technical decisions. You will be a key player in helping NetApp stay ahead of the curve and deliver innovative solutions to our customers.
You are expected to have a strong technical point of view and work with our internal and external partners and earn their trust with empathy. Your ability to communicate clearly with the top leaders of multiple high-profile companies and ability to use data to defend your decisions will be crucial for this role.
Job Requirements
- Establish engineering excellence frameworks integrating AI-assisted development, security-first practices, and sustainability metrics
- Mentor senior technical staff and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning
- Lead research initiatives in emerging technologies and guide proof-of-concept development
- Lead and execute complex software engineering projects in the data, hybrid & storage area.
- Understand NetApp’s existing systems, their interdependencies, and limitations.
- Possess expert knowledge in storage management, modern cloud architectures, performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
- Influence multiple internal teams and external partners without authority and with strong empathy. (This is an IC role)
Qualifications
- 18+ years of experience in software/systems engineering
- 10+ years of experience in data management systems & storage platforms for managing and storing data across various workloads and environments. (Ex: NetApp’s ONTAP or similar systems)
- 10+ years of expert level hands-on experience in highly scalable cloud architectures including service-oriented architectures, cloud-native (SAAS), data engineering, data analytics and cloud storage services.
- Strong technical judgment and influential skills
- Ability to operate as a key technical adviser and guide engineers on critical customer design issues and escalations
- Ability to provide both architectural guidance and detailed technical direction.

Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required (Computer science preferred) and/or, relevant experience.
