About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the definition and evolution of our Software Defined Storage (SDS) portfolio. This role is highly strategic and cross functional, working at the intersection of architecture, engineering, go to market, partners, and enterprise customers.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping our SDS vision, defining initial and long term use cases, and building a scalable and monetizable offering that serves both Neocloud providers and Strategic Enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Partner closely with the architecture and engineering teams to define the overall NetApp SDS offering, including scope, differentiation, and long term roadmap.
- Develop a phased SDS strategy, clearly articulating MVP, near term enhancements, and long term expansion plans.
- Identify and prioritize initial target use cases for SDS, while defining a clear strategy for broader adoption and feature expansion over time.
Customer & Market Requirements
- Gather and synthesize requirements from Neocloud providers and Strategic Enterprise customers, ensuring the SDS offering addresses distinct performance, scalability, and operational needs.
- Translate customer and market insights into clear product requirements and business cases.
Platform & Ecosystem Definition
- Lead hardware platform selection, working through vendor interlocks and ongoing partner communication to ensure alignment with product and business goals.
- Evaluate and define fulfillment models, including:
- Meet in the channel
- ODM partnerships
- OEM offerings
Monetization & Business Models
- Explore and define monetization strategies for the SDS portfolio, including licensing, subscriptions, consumption based models, and bundled offerings.
- Partner with finance, sales, and GTM teams to assess revenue impact, pricing strategies, and margin considerations.
Cross Functional Leadership
- Act as the central point of alignment across architecture, engineering, sales, marketing, alliances, and operations.
- Clearly communicate product strategy, trade offs, and roadmap to executive stakeholders and field teams.
Education & Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of product management experience, with significant ownership of enterprise infrastructure, storage, or cloud-related products.
- Strong understanding of Software-Defined Storage, cloud infrastructure, and modern data center architectures.
- Proven experience working with architecture and engineering teams to translate technical concepts into market-ready products.
- Experience defining product roadmaps, phased releases, and go-to-market strategies.
Preferred
- Experience working with hyperscalers, Neocloud providers, or large enterprise customers.
- Familiarity with OEM/ODM ecosystems, hardware vendor partnerships, and channel models.
- Background in defining monetization and licensing models for software or platform offerings.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 183,600 - 272,800 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
