Job Summary

oin the StorageGRID team at NetApp—recognized as one of the Top 30 Best Multinational Workplaces globally—and contribute to the development of our software‑defined, object-based storage platform that delivers intelligent, policy‑driven data management at scale. We are seeking a Lead Engineer for Performance Automation who will drive the strategy, design, and implementation of performance testing, automation, benchmarking tools, and configuration validation to help enhance product performance. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a highly skilled team of developers across design, development, QA, and deployment, working on cutting-edge cloud storage technology while shaping performance improvements for StorageGRID. If you’re an experienced engineer who has mastered your current technology stack and is eager to influence the next generation of cloud storage software, this is the perfect opportunity to make an impact.

Job Requirements

Must‑Have Technical Skills

  • Performance testing experience with SAN, NAS, HTTP/S3 storage protocols.
  • Strong software/hardware performance analysis and optimization skills.
  • Ability to lead performance test strategy, design, execution, and documentation.
  • Experience setting up infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, tools, and benchmarking frameworks.
  • Hands‑on expertise in Linux and TCP/IP networking.
  • Automation skills in Python, Shell/Bash, or similar scripting languages.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with Jenkins/Bamboo, Elastic/ELK, Go/Java.
  • Hands-on with fio, iperf and other benchmarking tools.
  • Exposure to enterprise servers, storage, switches, routers.
  • Familiar with HTTP and AWS S3 APIs.
  • Experience with containers or VMWare.


Process & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex technical projects with high quality.
  • Comfortable working with remote/global teams.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in incident management, troubleshooting, and RCA.
  • Quick learner with strong problem‑solving and engineering discipline.


Responsibility & Interaction

  • Handle both structured and unstructured tasks, solving moderately complex technical problems.
  • Collaborate with staff to director‑level stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Work under general direction for routine tasks and detailed guidance for new initiatives.
  • Serve as a key contributor to team projects.

Education

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience is required. 10 to 15 years of experience is preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a Master Degree; or equivalent experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
