Position Summary:
The Materials and Structures Laboratory (MatSLab) directed by Profs. Matthew P. Adams and Matthew J. Bandelt at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking applications for one fully funded post-doctoral scholar in the areas of concrete materials, computational simulation, and service-life modeling beginning in Summer 2025.

Essential Functions:
-Collaborate with faculty and fellow researchers simulate long-term durability behavior of advanced concrete materials.
-Develop numerical models to predict service-life behavior of novel construction materials.
-Analyze and interpret data and contribute to the publication of research findings.
-Engage in scientific discussions and present research findings at conferences and seminars.
-Contribute to the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students.
-Participate in grant writing opportunities and contribute to the overall academic environment.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Hold a Ph.D. in civil engineering, materials science, materials engineering, structural engineering or a related field.
-Strong academic record and research background.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-The candidate should have research, classwork, or professional experience in computational modeling of construction materials, finite element simulation, service-life modeling, durability of concrete materials and/or hydration and degradation of cementitious materials.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
