Part time role for University students, the length of contract for 12months.
We are seeking a motivated Intern Software Engineer to join our team in Prague, where you will work with experienced engineers to build Opower platform and products that make a real-world impact. In this role, you will have the chance to contribute to software development, learning how to build scalable and user-friendly products. You will be part of an international team, providing you with plenty of exposure to various modern technologies and agile processes.
To that end, we are looking for an entry-level software developer who is passionate about building software that makes a real difference in the world, and who has the skills and strong desire to learn about software development and cloud technologies, write code in our stack, and think critically about our role in the business.
If you have experience as a professional software engineer, that's great - but, our focus is on the skills you have and skills you can develop while you're here. As long as you're ready and eager to learn about the utility business and our platform's business context, you'll succeed.
Responsibilities
- Learn about and contribute to the development of new features for energy management products that help customers reduce their energy and water usage.
- Work alongside experienced engineers to deliver features and learn the ropes of coding, testing, and debugging.
- Contribute to solving bugs and improving the performance of existing Opower platform or product features in collaboration with team members.
- Help develop complex web modules and their supporting back-end services using Java , JavaScript, NodeJS, React, and Redux.
- Use test-driven development to ensure all code is thoroughly tested using Enzyme, Karma, Storybooks, Loki, Ava, Selenium, and Junit.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and fix bugs anywhere in the web module stack, from React web components to Java Dropwizard services.
- Own small-to-medium sized tasks or features, including writing simple design summaries to guide your work.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.).
- Some experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or any related web technologies is appreciated.
- A basic understanding of software development principles (e.g., version control, testing, agile practices, etc.).
- A strong desire to learn about software development, cloud technologies, and distributed systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-driven, curious, and motivated to learn and grow as a software engineer.

We are looking for a passionate Intern Software Engineer to join the Opower product team in Prague, Czech Republic. Interns can join the program any time from 1 June 2026 onward, depending on their availability.
