  • Daily Monitoring: Monitor enterprise backup dashboards daily to ensure all scheduled jobs complete successfully and meet success rate targets.
  • Incident Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures or warnings by analyzing logs, checking network connectivity, and fixing client-agent issues.
  • Data Restoration: Execute data recovery requests—ranging from single files to full Virtual Machines or databases—within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Storage Management: Manage disk and tape storage targets, including handling tape rotations, offsite media transfers, and library hardware maintenance.
  • Capacity Planning: Proactively monitor storage utilization trends and alert management when capacity thresholds are approached to prevent job failures.
  • Lifecycle Management: Configure and enforce backup retention policies to ensure data is archived and purged according to compliance and audit standards.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine health checks, apply software patches, and upgrade backup agents on servers to ensure compatibility and security.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of backup configurations, schedules, error codes, and recovery procedures.
  • Vendor Coordination: Open and manage support tickets with backup software or hardware vendors to resolve complex technical issues or hardware defects.
  • DR Participation: Assist in regular Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and testing to validate that Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) are being met.

Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure. This role involves the daily monitoring and management of enterprise backup environments to ensure data integrity and availability. You will be responsible for troubleshooting failed backup jobs, managing tape and disk storage libraries, and restoring data upon request. The ideal candidate will strictly adhere to retention policies and perform routine health checks on backup software (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, or NetBackup).

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Operational Management: Oversee the daily execution of all enterprise backup jobs across physical, virtual, and cloud environments to ensure 100% success rates and data integrity.
  • Incident Remediation: Perform deep-dive troubleshooting on failed or incomplete backup jobs, analyzing error logs and coordinating with server/network teams to resolve root causes.
  • Data Recovery Services: Execute timely restoration of data for user tickets (files/folders) and critical system outages (VMs/Databases), strictly strictly adhering to defined Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Storage & Media Handling: Manage the lifecycle of backup media, including tape library operations, offsite vaulting coordination, and disk storage capacity planning to prevent over-utilization.
  • Policy Administration: Configure and maintain backup retention policies and schedules to ensure compliance with legal, audit, and internal business continuity requirements.
  • System Maintenance: Conduct regular health checks, install security patches, and perform upgrades on backup management servers and client agents to maintain system security.
  • DR Testing & Validation: Participate in quarterly or bi-annual Disaster Recovery (DR) drills, validating recovery procedures and documenting results for audit evidence.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Generate and analyze weekly reports on backup performance, success rates, and storage growth trends to provide actionable insights to IT leadership.
  • Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for backup software and hardware vendors to manage support cases, RMA replacements, and licensing renewals.
  • Documentation Standards: Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), network diagrams, and asset inventories to ensure the backup environment is fully documented and auditable.
