What You’ll Do:
We are seeking a curious and self-driven Oracle Database Research Intern to join our Database Research program. In this role, you will explore advanced runtime technologies and their interaction with Oracle Database, contributing to proof-of-concepts, performance studies, and developer tooling innovations.
As part of the research program, you will have the opportunity to work on one or more of the following areas:
- GraalVM: A high-performance runtime that enables developers to build fast, efficient, and secure polyglot applications with ahead-of-time compilation and native image support.
- GraalOS Database Integrations: A suite of optimized integrations that connect GraalVM-based applications to Oracle DB, delivering fast startup times, low memory usage, and reliable data access.
- Micronaut and Graal Development Kit (GDK) for Micronaut: A development toolkit that streamlines building cloud-native Micronaut applications on GraalVM, enabling rapid startup, low memory consumption, and easy native image creation.

What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):
To be considered for a Oracle Database Research Intern position, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.
- Will be enrolled in a Master’s, or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field during the 2026-2027 school year.
- Have completed advanced coursework, projects, internships, and or research in three or more of the following:
- Relational data design and database queries
- Modern object-oriented programming languages
- Computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis)
- Parallel and distributed computing
- REST APIs and RESTful architecture concepts
- Modern development tools (IDEs, version control, build management, Linux)
- Machine learning technologies and toolkits
- Good communication and presentation skills in English (required)
- Strong background in design and development
- Demonstrated research excellence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including scientific writing, presenting, and formal briefings
- Reside in Canada and/or attend a university in Canada.
- Able to obtain work authorization in Canada in 2026-27.
