The Network OS organization is responsible for designing and delivering the control-plane systems, distributed services, and network intelligence that power OCI’s virtual networking, backbone routing, and traffic engineering platforms.

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will own and influence the end-to-end architecture of software running on critical network infrastructure such as routers and switches. You will drive cloud-scale reliability, performance, and evolvability across hardware and software boundaries in large production environments.

We are seeking an experienced software architect (Consulting Member of Technical Staff – IC5) to build platform-level, distributed systems supporting next-generation cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise in the design, implementation, and delivery of core network system components and distributed services.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the overall technical architecture of infrastructure software deployed on network devices
  • Define architectural contracts, APIs, and failure boundaries across teams and components
  • Design and build network features in software
  • Lead design reviews, large-scale failure analysis, and production-readiness efforts
  • Drive performance analysis and optimization using advanced telemetry and diagnostics
  • Provide cross-organization technical leadership and mentorship

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems software engineering, with a focus on cloud infrastructure, networking, or distributed systems.
  • Advanced expertise in systems software and large-scale networked infrastructure
  • Prior experience working on a Network Operating System (for e.g. SONiC or similar)
  • Deep understanding of Linux internals, concurrency, memory management, and IPC
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and control/data plane separation
  • Proven experience operating highly reliable software in production network environments
  • Ability to influence across engineering, operations, and hardware or vendor teams
  • Proficiency in at least one systems or network programming language (C, C++, Rust or Go)
