At Oracle Health, we build technology that helps clinicians, patients, and healthcare organizations deliver better outcomes. Joining the Oracle Health and Analytics organization means working on platforms that operate at enterprise scale, where reliability, performance, security, and compliance are foundational. On the Observability team, you’ll help improve the visibility and operational health of services that support critical healthcare workflows—by building systems that enable teams to detect issues early, respond effectively, and continuously improve.

Career Level - IC3

What you will do:

• Implement and maintain backend microservices and APIs supporting observability use cases (ingestion, processing, storage integration, query, and alerting).
• Build and operate data pipeline components for event processing (e.g., Kafka-based ingestion and consumers).
• Contribute to reliable data handling patterns such as retries, idempotency, ordering considerations, and dead-letter strategies.
• Use Redis (or equivalent) to support caching and latency-sensitive workflows.
• Write automated tests (unit/integration) and participate in code reviews to maintain quality and maintainability.
• Contribute to operational excellence through service instrumentation, dashboards, logging standards, and runbooks.
• Troubleshoot production issues with guidance, participate in incident response/on-call rotations as needed, and contribute to post-incident follow-ups.
• Collaborate with SRE/DevOps, product, and peer engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Java (or similar JVM language such as Kotlin/Scala).
• Experience building backend services using Spring Boot and/or Micronaut (or comparable frameworks).
• Practical experience with Kafka (writing producers/consumers, understanding partitions and consumer groups). Experience with OCI Streaming is a plus.
• Experience with Redis (caching fundamentals, basic data modeling). Experience with OCI Cache is a plus.
• Experience contributing to data pipelines (streaming and/or batch), including basic transformation and validation.
• Familiarity with distributed systems fundamentals (latency, failure modes, timeouts, retries).
• Experience with common testing practices and CI/CD workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to observability concepts and tooling (metrics/logs/traces/events), Prometheus, OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry familiarity.
• Experience with data stores and persistence patterns; experience with Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) is a plus.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience operating services in production environments (monitoring, troubleshooting, on-call).
• Security-aware development practices (handling secrets, least privilege, secure coding basics).

Skills & Competencies

• Solid engineering fundamentals and ability to deliver well-scoped features.
• Learning mindset and ability to incorporate feedback from code and design reviews.
• Ownership of assigned components from implementation through production support.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration across functions and time zones.
