Position Summary | This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks) student technical assistant for the Animal & Rangeland Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU). The seasonal position will require a student to perform routine to complex technical tasks in support of research and administrative work, which includes rangeland data collection, and simple analysis. Fieldwork is based out of the OSU Extension Service Office in Malheur County. Responsibilities include collecting rangeland vegetation associated with the Oregon State University Fine Fuels Management project on public lands managed by the Vale District BLM, administrative Extension Service tasks, multi-media and rangeland-based beef projects related to improving the sagebrush steppe of southeastern Oregon, and assisting in cattle grazing behavior applied research. Less than 20 hrs/week during the school year and up to 40 hrs/week during the summer. |

Additional Required Qualifications | Must be willing to work in rough, rugged, and remote rangeland conditions with a rangeland crew that consists of university students, as of fall 2025, graduate students, university faculty, and volunteers. Due to the nature of the field work, the individual must be able to elevate 30 pounds overhead and drive a public vehicle. Additionally, it is imperative to have incredible skills to communicate with and support a broader team. |
