Job Summary	This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. Oregon State University-Cascades and the School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts at Oregon State University (OSU) seek to fill a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor in Art, Media and Technology to begin December 16, 2025. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. We are seeking an artist whose creative practice locates within the medium of New Media Arts firmly in the context of contemporary art and interdisciplinarity. The ideal candidate will have a footing in a technology-based practice, with an aptitude in interactivity, video arts, animation, VR/AR, and histories of New Media. Fluency in contemporary cultural and aesthetic theory is preferred, with experience in course and curriculum development across the disciplines of the AMT portfolio. The position incumbent will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to show a strong commitment to the development of new media design curricula, to develop and conduct a coherent, productive research program with broad impact, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, engage in activities to promote inclusive excellence, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success and to recruit students. The position incumbent will have demonstrated expertise in art, art and technology; the application of new tools and methods to art; and communication of that work through exhibitions, curation, and publication.The incumbent will possess a record of or potential for developing internal, national, or international partnerships to advance scholarship and creative activities in their disciplines. Duties will support the vision, mission, and goals of the school, college, and university. OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon, is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,300 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion, which is currently in progress. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 2,200 students by the fall of 2030. and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment

Key Responsibilities	60% Teaching & Mentoring (including graduate and undergraduate thesis advising and similar activities) Teaching includes face-to-face classroom, hybrid, and Ecampus teaching, communicating with students (through office hours, email, phone calls, discussion boards, etc.) and course development. Serving as an advisor for undergraduate or graduate students, serving as a committee member for graduate students, advising Honors College theses and serving on UHC thesis committees, and similar duties, are considered part of teaching, as is leading independent studies for students and similar activities. As appropriate, faculty serve as the HR supervisor for GTAs and/or contribute to evaluations of GTAs, tasks which are considered primarily as part of teaching (though in some cases, it may make sense to count some of this work as service; faculty should talk with their supervisors about the most appropriate place to include this kind of work). Teaching obligations belong to the appointment period, not only to the scheduled dates of the class sessions, and may include such tasks, after the final date of the course, as: responding to grade complaints; responding to requests from students for letters of recommendation; and similar post-term activities. 30% Research, Creative and Scholarly Work This position will be expected to engage in creative and scholarly work appropriate to the position; to communicate that work through exhibitions, curation, publications and other appropriate means; and to facilitate collaborations across disciplines, university units, and with community partners. Creative and scholarly work includes the entire lifecycle, from preparation, ideation and/or data gathering to publication and/or performance. 10% Service (program, school, college, university, professional) Serve on departmental, college and university committees and service to the community; and other duties as assigned. Participate in appropriate meetings, activities, committees, and outreach for the college and school, OSU-Cascades, and the OSU community. What You Will Need	Terminal degree (typically MFA or Ph.D.) in art; art, media, and technology; visual arts or a closely related discipline Specialty in art, media, and technology or related area emphasizing the integration of tradtional methods with modern tools and technology. Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses in art, digital tools, media and related areas including cross-listed courses in related disciplines Demonstrated record of in or potential for excellent graduate, undergraduate, face-to-face and online teaching A creative and scholarly record commensurate with and potential for research trajectory commensurate with tenure-track assistant professors at a major research university Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through teaching, creative practice, research, or service, particularly in ways that support interdisciplinary collaboration, student success, and/or community engagement.
