| Job Summary |  This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. Oregon State University-Cascades and the School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts at Oregon State University (OSU) seek to fill a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor in Art, Media and Technology to begin December 16, 2025. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. We are seeking an artist whose creative practice locates within the medium of New Media Arts firmly in the context of contemporary art and interdisciplinarity. The ideal candidate will have a footing in a technology-based practice, with an aptitude in interactivity, video arts, animation, VR/AR, and histories of New Media. Fluency in contemporary cultural and aesthetic theory is preferred, with experience in course and curriculum development across the disciplines of the AMT portfolio. The position incumbent will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to show a strong commitment to the development of new media design curricula, to develop and conduct a coherent, productive research program with broad impact, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, engage in activities to promote inclusive excellence, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success and to recruit students. The position incumbent will have demonstrated expertise in art, art and technology; the application of new tools and methods to art; and communication of that work through exhibitions, curation, and publication.The incumbent will possess a record of or potential for developing internal, national, or international partnerships to advance scholarship and creative activities in their disciplines. Duties will support the vision, mission, and goals of the school, college, and university. OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon, is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,300 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion, which is currently in progress. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 2,200 students by the fall of 2030. and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment |
