Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Project Assistant for The Data & Information Architecture team in University Information Technology at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Data & Information Architecture team in University Information Technology is seeking a Graduate Student to assist with AI-driven initiatives that advance student success, strengthen our data ecosystem, and improve how we interact with institutional data and models. This role will focus on exploring and implementing solutions within Microsoft Fabric, our enterprise data platform, and supporting projects that make data more accessible, actionable, and aligned with institutional goals.
You will work on high-impact prototypes, collaborate with data architects and analysts, and help shape tools and strategies that leverage AI responsibly and effectively.

Position Duties
Key Responsibilities
  • Data Platform & Catalog development and improvements
  • Assist in enhancing the Microsoft Fabric environment for better data integration, governance, and discoverability.
  • Maintain clear documentation and presenting results or prototypes to the team.
  • Modeling and Tool Development
  • Contribute to building user-friendly tools and interfaces that allow stakeholders to interact with curated data and AI models securely and efficiently. Include the corresponding testing prototypes, validating results, and iterating based on feedback.
  • Support university projects that use AI to identify patterns, improve engagement, and inform interventions related to student success and university priorities
  • Ethical use, Governance and Security
  • Work with team members to ensure solutions follow institutional standards for privacy, security, and ethical AI.
  • Develop and refine documentation and standards related to use and application of AI in university reporting
  • Assist in the education of the OSU community related to AI and university reporting

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Familiarity with data platforms and basic programming (Python or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in practical applications of AI and ML techniques
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or similar enterprise data platforms.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and their ethical implications.
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools.
  • Previous experience developing and completing AI related projects with large data sets
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work Conditions
  • Hours: 10–20 per week during term (flexible schedule).
  • Location: Hybrid – Corvallis campus and remote work options.
  • Duration: Winter and Spring 2026 with possibility of extension to summer and subsequent academic year
