Your Team
As a Platform Engineer on the Chart of Accounts Team within the Corporate Technology Finance Systems area at Prudential Financial Inc, you will be responsible for supporting the company's Oracle General Ledger chart of accounts and reporting hierarchies and provide functional and configuration support for several key financial reporting applications. The Chart of Accounts, together with related reporting hierarchies, is the cornerstone of all financial reporting performed by the enterprise, including:
- external regulatory (GAAP, STAT, SEC and foreign)
- internal management/profitability
- planning/forecasting
- other (actuarial, risk etc.)
This provides you with exposure to a broad array of Prudential Financial Inc.’s businesses and major finance areas. The Platform Engineer will help the Enterprise’s growing and ever-changing financial reporting landscape.
Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
- Manage the review and analysis of Oracle Chart of Accounts maintenance requests, following established standards and guidelines, including value ranging, naming conventions and compliance with other systems requirements. Covers Oracle General Ledger, Drivers, Forecast, Supplementals etc.
- Partner with various business area finance teams, as well as other key constituents and the Financial Reporting team, to create and/or modify value set hierarchies and attributes in support of new or revised financial reporting requirements. These can be generated by regulatory changes, company reorganization, internal management needs, global expansion, acquisitions and/or business sales and other divestitures.
- Review and maintain the operational processing of Chart Maintenance requests and execution of various related control processes.
- Actively work with and support applications critical to the Chart and hierarchy maintenance process – Project and Portfolio Management (PPM), ServiceNow (SNOW) and Data Relationship Management (DRM). Partner with areas to design and deploy new maintenance forms to support the financial systems architecture.
- Support a variety of Oracle-related processes such as Cross-validation rules, Annual Housekeeping, and oversee review and processing of ancillary Maintenance requests (TMS, Gen Upload, Calc Menu etc.)
- Participate in various Department and Enterprise initiatives, providing additional opportunities to develop analytical skills and gain exposure to different Prudential business areas.
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
Bachelor’s degree required; Finance, Information Systems, Business or similar is preferred.
- 3 years practical experience with business analysis, project/process management, financial reporting or other relevant analytical experience is a plus.
- Candidate must have solid analytical and problem-solving skill sets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word and Excel) is required.
- Oracle ERP and Data Relationship Management (DRM) experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, resourcefulness, and attention to detail, along with a true passion for quality and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments / projects and effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Desire and ability to learn quickly, as well as to work independently. Equally important is the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
- Client focused and result oriented work ethic is required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Experience participating in Ledger implementation or upgrade projects.
- Experience with SQL, or Oracle Business Intelligence or Essbase Reporting.
- Inquisitive nature and passion for learning new technologies.
- Financial/Insurance accounting knowledge is a plus, but not required.

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $85,100.00 to $126,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.Market competitive base salaries, with a yearly bonus potential at every level.
