Your Team & Role

As a Lead, Cloud Engineer in Global Technology & Operations (GTO), you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, software engineers and delivery professionals to improve and secure our Cloud Platforms. You will secure design, plan, administer, develop, and/or maintain applications in cloud-based environments to solve sophisticated business problems and deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to advanced technical expertise and experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication, teamwork skills, experience with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day

· Deliver and secure computing services in cloud-based environments in Microsoft Azure. Develop and support solutions to automate the securing, creation, management, or destruction of infrastructure; remove technical impediments

· Implement Azure security controls at scale using a combination of Azure Policy and Wiz. Handle communication, documentation, and rollout to the business teams and developers of those controls.

· Accelerate application development by building patterns of infrastructure services that are consumed self-service, resilient, reliant, secure, and in accordance with Prudential standards

· Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact and support the goals

· Automate unit and integration test cases, solve problems and add new value with automation

· Develop corporate platform standards based on security, regulations, cost, capability, and capacity requirements to drive business value; document solutions to support the adoption of developed solutions

· Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input, coach team members, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day

· Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.

· Heavily use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Power Shell scripting, and Terraform.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field

· Security and Engineering Certifications with Microsoft Azure or multiple years of experience.

· Ability to lead independently with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization

· Experience with agile development methodologies, managing platforms or tools and code, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

· Knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business

· Familiarity and understanding of Azure IAM Fundamentals.

· Deep Knowledge of Azure Security Control technologies such as Azure Policy and Wiz (or another similar CSPM or CNAP tool) and how to implement them effectively at scale in enterprise environments

· Understanding of foundational Azure services such as Azure Virtual Network, Azure ExpressRoute, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Azure Grid, Azure Batch, Azure O365 and SharePoint Apps, Azure Monitor, Azure Image Gallery. etc.

· Ability to proficiently write code in Python, Node.js, Bash (shell), PowerShell, Terraform, and other similar languages.

· Strong knowledge of Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Azure Container Instances, AKS, and others.

· Familiar with ETL and big data toolchains such as those provided by Azure Databricks/HDInsight, Azure Data Factory, or similar.

· Solid understanding of DevOps automation tools, practices & capabilities (continuous integration & continuous delivery) such as Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, or other comparable tools.

· Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges

· Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team

· Not afraid to ‘roll up the sleeves’ and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn. Willing to push the team to do the same.

Preferred Qualifications

· Finance/Insurance industry experience is a plus.

· Ability to deliver some or all positive business impact in Amazon Web Services (AWS) as well would be a plus. Experience with other cloud providers (Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud) a plus.

· Experience providing easily consumable services to software development teams to assist in the consumption of infrastructure solutions and partnering to implement them a plus

· Experience applying infrastructure fundamentals to Linux/Unix operating systems, database, network and TCP/IP, and common communication protocols a plus

· Ability to code in many languages including but not limited to Python, Shell scripting, Groovy, Modern languages, Ansible, and CloudFormation a plus.

· Familiarity with Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) tools and their hooks into Azure a plus.

· Experience with Database Compliance, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Detection in the Cloud a plus.

Security Certifications like CISSP or GCIH a plus. Other Azure, AWS, GCP or OCI certifications a plus.

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $138,500.00 to $206,000.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
