General Summary

The Component Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that purchased components meet quality standards and specifications. This role is a critical link between internal CE, engineering, and sourcing/procurement teams and external suppliers, focusing on quality assurance, problem resolution, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Capability Assessment: Conduct technical and quality system assessments of potential new suppliers, including IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 audits.
  • Supplier On-Boarding Process: Ensure suppliers understand company standards and requirements.
  • PPAP Management & Approval: Review, approve, and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions from suppliers.
  • PCN (Product Change Notification): Review and approve supplier-driven engineering changes, ensuring proper documentation and validation. For automotive grade products, the PCN must comply with ZVEI DeQuMa Matrix requirements.
  • Quality Issue Resolution (8D Management): Lead resolution of complex quality issues and non-conformances with suppliers, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and analyze suppliers' quality KPIs and scorecards, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Audit Activities: Conduct regular and focused audits at supplier facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage Distribution: Oversee the distribution of service component suppliers.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.


OR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in supplier quality or component development in the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry requirements of AEC-Q, ZEVI PCN.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, Quality Tools, and methodologies.
  • Understanding of various automotive component manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier locations as required.
