General Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department is dedicated to fostering a safe and healthy workplace by implementing and maintaining programs that protect employees, the environment, and organizational assets. The primary mission of this role is to support and advance the company’s EHS objectives by ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, promoting a proactive safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance. Core responsibilities include developing and enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, facilitating EHS training, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards. The individual in this role will play a key part in shaping and upholding the organization’s commitment to exemplary environmental health and safety standards.

EHS engineer will be based in Zhubei office and will be part of Corporate EHS team.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should have the following abilities:

  • 甲級職業衛生管理技術士 Class A Occupational safety management specialist is a must.
  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Adapt emerging best practices and industry innovations in EHS compliance.
  • Function well in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in Chinese and basic skills of written and verbal in English
  • Willing to travel to Taipei sometimes.
  • Good technical skills, analytical skills, and hands-on skills.
  • Skills with Microsoft programs (power point, excel, teams).

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve EHS management system in consistent with latest laws & regulations
  • Partner with business services departments such as Facilities, Construction, Human Resources, Security to provide technical support if needed
  • Roll out site/corporate EHS programs such as health protection, chemical safety, waste management, WMSD program, regular maternal protection program, radiation safety, etc.
  • Analyses and keep track of EHS standards with company legal registration tool, and reports on changes in relevant EHS laws and regulations
  • Develop and review annual EHS training plans and implement training programs accordingly
  • Perform regular site safety inspection and follow up corrective actions
  • Support internal and external HSE audits, in support of corporate audit program.
  • Provide sustaining support for the various size of construction projects (design drawings review, vendor qualification or permits review, onsite safety review, permit to work reviews, provide instructor-led training, etc.).
  • Support Corporate/local emergency response team to develop or implement emergency response plans accordingly.
  • Implement company special health protection program and complete all mandatory government reporting assignments from lead

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 5+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 7+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 甲級職業衛生管理技術士 Class A Occupational safety management specialist is a must.
  • At least 3 years working experience in EHS role, preferably in foreign company or English is working language
  • Willing to domestic travel as needed. Around 20% travel/month.
  • Expertise in EHS Regulations and compliance programs, and EHS ISO Standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, engineering or environmental protection preferred.
