About the job:

The Red Hat Ansible team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of our Ansible Dev Tools team in Bangalore, India. As a seasoned professional, you will work on the Developer Tools to provide robust and customer friendly of Ansible developer experience. This role is central to our strategy, focusing on technologies like Javascript, and Typescript. You will be joining a geographically dispersed team and will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment. A foundational understanding of Python is a plus If you are passionate about elegant code, complex problem-solving, and working with global team, we want you on our team.

What will you do?

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain the core components and features of the Ansible VSCODE Extension (Microsoft) using Javascript, and Typescript

  • Work in Python for the Command line interface based tools

  • Write UI tests, Unit tests, End to end tests to ensure quality

  • Collaborate with Product Management and UX/UI designers to translate high-level requirements and wireframes into technical specifications and deliver a superior user experience

  • Focus on performance, security, and scalability

  • Mentor junior engineers and champion engineering best practices, including code review standards, documentation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)

  • Participate in the full Agile development lifecycle, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release management

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, resolve customer escalations, and perform root cause analysis to continuously improve system reliability

  • Contribute to relevant open-source projects and engage with the community to ensure alignment with upstream innovation

  • Ensure all delivered code meets rigorous quality, security, and compliance standards for enterprise software

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on full-stack web application development

  • Expert-level proficiency in Javascript/Typescript

  • Passionate about AI, Experience with MCP/ LLM (Gemini/ OpenAPI/ Claude/ Ollama)

  • Demonstrated understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar

  • Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages, particularly in an automation context

  • Familiarity with the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform ecosystem and related technologies

  • A track record of contributing to open-source software projects

  • Experience in a customer-facing or community-interaction role
