Job Summary
The RHEL Network Filesystems development team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with Network Filesystems development experience on Linux. Our team maintains the NFS, CIFS, and associated kernel sub-systems and tools within Red Hat. In this role, you’ll be contributing to the RHEL Network Filesystems team with a focus on research and development with respect to parallel NFS, high availability, and performance. This job requires regular interaction with other team members in relation to the userland and kernel parts of NFS, associated kernel sub-system teams across Red Hat, as well as others such as documentation and support. The work will comprise a mixture of software maintenance and development tasks, working across multiple teams and with the upstream community to enhance the features and stability of network filesystems in RHEL.
What you will do
Work as part of a globally diverse scrum team of developers and testing engineers
Contribute to upstream NFS development through our “upstream first” policy.
Collaborate on the planning and fulfillment of new feature development work.
Contribute to the teams diagnosis and fixing of customer bugs
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the upstream community and participate in cross-company community events
Instigate and develop performance testing metrics and systems
What you will bring
Strong Experience of Linux networking and/or filesystems.
An ability to prioritize multiple tasks based on importance.
A proactive approach to working with multiple teams.
Experience with git and Open Source working practices
A passion for writing and maintaining reliable, stable, and secure code.
The following is considered a plus
Existing contributions in one or more areas of Linux kernel development.
Experience with NFS or other network protocols.
