The Red Hat Product Security team is looking for a Senior Product Security Engineer to serve as the Product Owner for our Security Automation team. In this hybrid leadership and engineering role, you will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the internal tooling and automation that secures workflows and development. You will act as the bridge between our security engineers and internal stakeholders, ensuring we are building the right tools to solve the most critical security challenges.

You will be responsible for prioritizing the development of security testing infrastructure, CI/CD integrations, and business logic verification tools. While this is a strategic role, it requires a strong technical background to understand the complexities of the work, effectively manage the backlog, and champion the adoption of AI-driven security solutions. You will empower the team to deliver high-value automation that protects our customers and accelerates Red Hat's engineering velocity.

Our role is open as onsite/hybrid in our offices (Milan, Brno, Waterford, Barcelona, Madrid, Dublin, Cork) or remote in Poland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Ireland.

What you will do

  • Product Ownership: Own and prioritize the product backlog for the Security Automation team, ensuring alignment with Red Hat’s broader security strategy and business goals.
  • Strategy & Roadmap: Define a long-term roadmap for security automation, balancing immediate tactical needs with strategic initiatives to scale our security capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between the automation team and internal stakeholders (product engineering, compliance, and other security teams) to gather requirements and validate use cases.
  • AI Strategy: Lead the initiative to research, evaluate, and operationalize existing and emerging AI-driven tools to enhance security testing and vulnerability management workflows.
  • Value Verification: Define metrics and success criteria to verify that automation initiatives are delivering measurable business value and risk reduction (e.g., effective SAST/DAST coverage, business process verification).
  • Technical Guidance: Leverage your engineering background to translate complex security requirements into actionable user stories and technical tasks for the development team.
  • Adoption & Enablement: Champion the adoption of security automation tools across Red Hat, gathering feedback to continuously improve the user experience for our internal engineering customers.

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in product security, software engineering, or technical product management is preferred; however, we are open to candidates with less experience who demonstrate a strong aptitude for leadership and strategy.
  • Experience acting as a Product Owner or Product Manager in an Agile/Scrum environment, specifically for technical products or platforms.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Tekton, Jenkins, Ansible Automation Platform) and how security tools integrate into modern DevSecOps workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker) to understand the deployment context of our tools.
  • Knowledge of security testing methodologies (SAST, DAST and similar) and the ability to articulate their value to non-security stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and secure development lifecycle (SDL) practices.
  • Direct experience with Red Hat's product portfolio (Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform, RHEL).
