Software Engineering
Brno, Czechia
The Red Hat Engineering Client Tools team is looking for a Software Engineer interested in Python, Go, and Linux to join us in Brno. In this role, you will be part of a globally distributed team responsible for the tools that connect Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to the Hybrid Cloud Console.
We are looking for a "Generalist" developer profile—someone who is passionate about the entire software development lifecycle and high-quality code craftsmanship. While your primary focus will be on software design and development, we believe in "owning your code" from end to end. This means you will play an active role in defining and implementing the automated testing and Quality Engineering strategies that ensure your features are robust and production-ready for our customers.
We operate within the Scrum framework, emphasizing collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement through regular sprints.
We are currently embarking on an ambitious development roadmap to modernize our architecture by decommissioning legacy Python components and replacing them with a brand-new toolset written in Go, providing an excellent opportunity for a Python-proficient engineer to learn and grow into a Go developer on the job.
Some of the projects we maintain include:

What will you do?
- Work in a cross-functional Agile team to develop new features and address defects in our client-side tools.
- Own the quality of your work: Plan, write, and execute automated tests (unit, functional, and integration) as a standard part of your development process.
- Leverage AI and Agentic tools: Use AI-augmented development tools to generate initial drafts of code, tests, and documentation, ensuring all outputs are reviewed, refined, and verified for accuracy and security.
- Embrace Growth: Maintain a growth mindset by proactively learning new tools, paradigms, and technologies, including staying at the forefront of AI-assisted engineering.
- Collaborate with other Software and Quality Engineers to apply modern testing methodologies to our products.
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks.
What will you bring?
- Solid Python skills: Experience developing and maintaining applications in Python.
- Linux Proficiency: Good understanding of Linux operation and administration (services, configuration, logging, and architecture).
- Generalist Mindset: A strong willingness to work on any part of the software development process, specifically including QE, testing, and automation tasks.
- AI Tooling Awareness: Ability to use AI interfaces and extensions to accelerate daily development tasks while maintaining a focus on accuracy, technical integrity, and code quality.
- Git Knowledge: Experience with version control (GitHub, GitLab) and standard workflows.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented thinking with a focus on the customer perspective and a passion for debugging.
- Communication: Proficient written and verbal English skills to collaborate with a global team.
- Continuous Learner: Motivation to learn Go and stay up-to-date with evolving development methodologies.
The following are considered a plus
- Basic knowledge of or interest in learning Go.
- Involvement in upstream Open Source projects.
- Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., behave, cucumber, pytest).
- Familiarity with RPM packaging and system protocols (e.g., D-Bus).
