As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer, you'll be a key driver in ensuring the readiness and performance of our supply base, particularly for Body Structure Components (stampings, castings, forgings, and welded assemblies). You'll lead the industrialization process from concept to production, ensuring our suppliers are not only capable but also optimized for scalability and quality. This critical role involves extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Experience within aluminum die casting and Metal stamping would be preferred.
- Lead supplier industrialization and readiness for Body Structure components (Stampings, Castings, Forgings, and Welded Assemblies).
- Strong Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) & Run @ Rate.
- Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP).
- Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
- Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required Rivian standards.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
- Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues.
- Promote the use of Rivian preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
- 3-5+ years of supplier development/quality, quality, or engineering experience
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally with no restrictions on location.
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part
- Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and Run at Rates
