| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of Principal Investigator, Temp Research Asst will be responsible for conducting a project titled Clonal proliferative profile of HTLV-1 in infected patients using dolutegravir or vitamin C during 2 years of follow-up. For this project the student will identify and quantify integration’s sites of HTLV-1 in host genome to reach clonality for each infected patient and for these purpose Herreira’s Laboratory will provide everything that will need such as sonicator for gDNA physical fragmentation, enzymes for end-blunt repair, ligation to adapters and Nested-PCR, microfluidic eletrophoresis machine, DNA purification Kit and supplies for Nanopore MinION sequencing. Furthermore, the Temp Research Asst must possess a solid background in molecular biology techniques for the detection and sequencing of pathogen genomes. For the detection of integration sites, the student will need to understand and master the genome walking technique for amplifying unknown regions of the genome. The main aim of study is evaluating the clonality pattern of HTLV-1 in patients using Dolutegravir and Vitamin C during a 2-year follow-up. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
