Tradition is an important part of Saint Xavier University’s identity. Founded more than 165 years ago, the university was the first in Illinois, established not long after the city of Chicago. Today, the school maintains a campus in the heart of Chicago, with a satellite campus in Orland Park. Saint Xavier’s academics are divided into the following schools: College of Arts & Sciences, School of Education, School of Nursing, and Graham School of Business. These academic divisions combine for more than 65 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university also offers continuing education programs and professional certifications for adult students. A unique feature of SXU’s academics is the Center for Creating Engaged Learning Environments. This grant-funded program seeks to improve the Saint Xavier educational community by encouraging collaboration, use of technology, and the first-year experience. Student life at Saint Xavier University offers an array of exciting prospects. In addition to the numerous clubs and organizations on campus, SXU students are moments away from the world-class entertainment and dining of Chicago. Most of Saint Xavier students’ financial aid comes from federal grants, loans, and work-study programs, as well as institutional scholarships. The university provides each student with an aid package based on FAFSA results.
