What Your Job Will Be Like
The Interconnects Technology Group is looking for an early-career E&O Systems Engineer to join our team of high performing individuals leading mission-critical programs for our nation's security. The engineer's principal responsibility will be the managing and coordinating of resources/deliverables for the development and delivery of complex cables related to interconnect components for high consequence applications.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Create, validate, communicate, and implement innovative approaches to accomplish a broad range of technical and programmatic goals in collaboration with customers and stakeholders
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Systems Engineers, Quality Engineers, CAD Designers, and subject matter experts in the successful execution of mission critical designs and product delivery
- Lead through a position of influence to integrate people, teams, products, and activities
- Develop and deliver technical presentations and written reports to both internal and external partners to ensure consistent communication of technical needs and hand-offs
- Exercise critical thinking to identify, assess, and mitigate risks through the practical application of defect prevention to develop a safe, reliable, and robust product
- Evaluate and align technical needs with engineering resources to ensure that products and objectives are met
- Discrete activities may include:
- Translating project management directives to technical execution
- Validate hardware delivery needs (dates, pedigrees, quantities) with customers
- Derive subcomponent delivery needs (dates, pedigrees, quantities)
- Collaborate with Production Agencies/vendors to manage procurements
- Prioritize design definition needs in consideration of hardware need dates and vendor lead times
- Collaborate with Technical Leads to coordinate cable design engineering resources for level loading and optimization
- Serve as the interface between cable design engineering and CAD counterparts, ensuring status and needs are communicated
- Provide innovative solutions that promote accountability and improve efficiency
Some travel may be required.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$87,400 - $168,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field; or equivalent (AS + 4 years or no degree + 8 years)
- Experience working with technical engineering teams to meet project deliverables (including support of configuration management, requirements management, quality management, supply chain management, project management, and/or product lifecycle management)
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe, SharePoint)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Master's degree in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience
- Component or subsystem realization experience that includes requirements, design, verification, and qualification
- Experience with product realization and design engineering
- Working knowledge of Systems Engineering principles (e.g., Systems Engineering V-Model, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.)
- Experience in execution of technical projects and tactical planning
- Experience teaming, collaborating, and negotiating with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) stakeholders
- Experience in defining opportunities and delivering results when incomplete or ambiguous information is provided
- Ability to negotiate competing requirements and make risk-based decisions
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships, managing expectations, and delivering presentations to program sponsors and customers
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated, positive individual comfortable working in a constantly evolving, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) product realization process
- Knowledge of the ND drawing and Engineering Authorization system
- Knowledge of ND drawing requirements (CDs, MEs, PSs, SSs, etc.)
- Working knowledge of MCAD, ECAD, and/or EDM systems (e.g., CREO, Mentor Graphics, PDMLink, PRIME)
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
