Job Title: Domain Lead (Application Development & Custom AI) – Customer Success
Location: SAP Office, North America
Expected Travel: 30–40%
Role Overview:
As part of the Consumption & Excellence Office within the Global SAP BTP Global CRO Organization, this role is focused on driving post-sales success, domain maturity, and consumption and expansion growth for Application Development and Custom AI on SAP BTP across all regions with specific focus on North America and Europe.
This role supports the Future Ready Enterprise (FRE) Framework (SAP BTP Customer journey methodology) with its structured maturity model that helps customers progress from foundational adoption (L1) to advanced platform innovation (L5) across BTP domains.
The Domain Champion works cross-functionally with Customer Success, Sales, Services and Product teams to guide strategic engagements, shape best practices, and accelerate domain maturity through FRE-sponsored and regional programs. Further would play a key role in shaping the domain globally through insight and collaboration, while driving execution and relevance regionally.
Direct experience with SAP BTP is not a strict requirement but is highly recommended. We’re particularly interested in candidates with strong AppDev and Custom AI backgrounds who can either bring or quickly build expertise in the SAP BTP ecosystem.
Purpose & Objectives:
- Act as a global domain lead for Application Development and Custom AI, owning maturity and consumption KPIs in alignment with the FRE framework.
- Guide regions and Market Units in executing domain-specific strategies, engaging sponsored accounts, and identifying strategic consumption opportunities.
- Own and evolve domain maturity models, consumption patterns, and best practice playbooks used by regional field teams.
- Provide thought leadership in how enterprise AppDev and AI use cases are realized through SAP BTP.
Key Outcomes:
- Increase domain maturity and platform adoption through structured FRE-based engagements.
- Guide and support regions in creating and executing AppDev & AI consumption plans.
- Shape and maintain a validated pipeline of domain-aligned consumption opportunities and recovery plans.
- Deliver architectural guidance, either directly or by connecting customer teams with the right expert networks.
- Amplify global FRE strategy, tooling, and domain playbooks, ensuring consistency and reuse across Regions and Market Units
- Contribute to accurate cACV forecasting and impact analysis through reporting and collaboration with regional leaders.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Domain Expertise & Field Support: Engage in strategic customer discussions and 1:1 engagements; provide domain expertise for regional events and campaigns.
- Recovery Planning & Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with CSMs on recovery plans for accounts off-track in consumption or value realization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the regional point of contact for AppDev & AI domain topics, collaborating with Sales, GTM, CSM, and Product teams.
- Consumption Opportunity Lifecycle: Oversee the lifecycle from intake to validation, Consumed ACV forecasting, and post-engagement impact
- Campaign Oversight: Own and support domain-aligned campaigns and programs with regional and global marketing.
- Reporting & Feedback: Drive the Voice of Customer (VoC) for the domain, share field insights with product teams, and shape the FRE domain tooling.
Qualifications & Competencies
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise software, cloud platforms, or AI-enabled development
- A track record of shaping the domain agenda through visionary thinking, with a proven ability to influence through insights, frameworks, and active engagement with leadership.
Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience in:
- Cloud-native application development
- Designing and building custom AI solutions with LLMs, agent frameworks, and vector databases
- DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to Agentic AI concepts and orchestration frameworks
- Strong communication and architecture influencing skills in customer-facing settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP Build Code, SAP AI Core, Generative AI Hub, SAP HANA Cloud & Vector Engine
- Understanding of SAP’s BTP strategy and FRE maturity models (L1–L5)
- Development experience with other enterprise PaaS platforms is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- Domain architecture leadership, or post-sales strategy roles
- Platform solutioning and value realization programs
- Cross-regional enablement, campaign oversight, and strategic customer engagement
- Experience working across customer success, consulting, product, and sales organizations.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 121,000- 261,800 (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
