About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. We are looking for an Industrial Logistics Engineer. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.
Overview:
You will be responsible for optimizing material flow and intralogistics (receiving, warehouse, picking, delivery/drop-off to and from the assembly lines) in a factory which produces custom, high-mix, engineered-to-order switchgear and power distribution equipment. You will be fully empowered to work with the materials procurement and purchasing group, as well as the internal logistics team, to make the necessary changes in pursuit of continuous material flow. You will report directly to the Industrial Engineering Manager and sit on a team of Industrial (Manufacturing) Engineers who each have lineside process responsibility, whereas this role would focus on material flow throughout the entire plant. You will also work closely with Coordinators, Planners, Team Leads, and Production Managers to effectively channel action.
Responsibilities:
- Process Analysis & Improvement: Assess current warehouse processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend and implement solutions to improve workflow, reduce operational costs, and increase throughput.
- Lean Material Flow: Apply Lean process improvement techniques to implement clear replenishment signals, physical and digital Kanban, standard pack quantities, and timed milk runs to ensure predictability in the materials management.
- Space and Footprint Optimization: Collaborate with the PFEP Coordinator to optimize the warehouse layout. This will include the implementation of static and dynamic bin locations in the warehouse, and the overall standardization of the warehouse locations.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to monitor KPIs such as order fulfillment rates, cycle times, inventory accuracy, and throughput. Use these insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Process Documentation: Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices for warehouse operations. Ensure all processes are clearly defined and communicated to team members.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse managers, operations teams, IT, and supply chain professionals to align process improvements with business goals and ensure smooth implementation.
- Project Management: Lead or assist in process engineering projects, including new warehouse systems, layouts, and technology implementations. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 4+ years’ experience in warehouse process engineering, operations, or supply chain optimization.
- Competent in Lean material flow principles such as Kanban, pull systems, FIFO, runner/repeater analysis, static vs. dynamic homes, milk runs, EPEI, PFEP, and VSM
- Competency with warehouse management systems, material handling systems, and ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred).
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent and continuous basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP intermediate proficiency or greater
- PowerBI data analysis and visualization
- Competency in the above name Lean principles when applied to a high-mix manufacturing environment
- Project management certification
- Lean certification

- The pay range for this position is $73,500 - $126,000. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
