Siemens Government Technologies (SGT) is in search of a self-driven intern to complement our Buildings & Energy (B&E) team primarily supporting the goals of Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI). We are looking for a candidate with a diverse set of interests and flexibility to quickly pick up a new software programming platform for rapid development of bespoke applications to overcome the challenges presented by our customers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Learn the Siemens Mendix low-code rapid development application platform.
• Understand stakeholder’s needs and challenges.
• Work with various SGT teams to elaborate on a tailored solution by analyzing customer’s needs, current technical assets, and potential infrastructure limitations.
• Lead the development and delivery of presentations, demonstrations, and proof of concepts based on project work.
• Develop one or more minimum viable products (MVP) using Mendix to support B&E initiatives.
• Explore functionality, uses and perform integration and demonstration of other Siemens products such as Building X, Desigo, SICAM, and SiPass.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Experience with software development and one or more programming languages.
• Able to quickly pickup a new development platform.
• Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to present complex issues to multi-level audiences of company and government executives.
• Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate progress, status, and issues to internal and external customers.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Understanding and classwork or work experience in the facilities, construction or energy fields.
• Experience with hardware in the loop testing and hardware integration with software.
• Proficient with the development of software using multiple application programming interfaces (APIs).
• Previous experience developing middleware.
• Proficient in MS Office suite applications, Salesforce, and web or cloud-based software applications such as SharePoint.
• Experience with robotic process automation (RPA) and low code frameworks.
• Experience with US Federal Government projects, contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Familiar with products related to building control, fire alarm, and electronic security.
• Understanding of power distribution from the substation to building level and requirements for interconnection of generating assets.
• Knowledge of common protocols used in our industry such as Modbus, BACnet, OMG-DDS, and/or Profinet
• Candidates with ability to work from a remote location within the United States will be considered.
Security Requirements
• Candidate must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance

• The salary range for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 an hour.
