Job Purpose:
To carry out commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) switchgear and switchboards at customer sites, ensuring systems are fully operational, compliant with technical and safety standards, and aligned with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning Tasks:
- Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on MV/LV switchgears, primary part. Protection relays and control systems is a plus.
- Conduct insulation resistance, contact resistance, dielectric and functional tests (e.g., CT/VT ratio checks, relay setting verification, interlock checks).
- Review and validate as-built drawings and ensure proper wiring and installation of control circuits.
- Prepare commissioning reports and punch lists.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance of MV and LV switchgear, busbars, circuit breakers (VCB/ACB), and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational faults in breakers, protection relays, and control wiring.
- Replace worn parts (contacts, arc chutes, etc.) and test breakers post-maintenance.
- Record and report equipment conditions, recommended repairs, and potential risks.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures (e.g., arc flash protection, grounding techniques).
- Ensure all work complies with local and international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with clients and project managers to coordinate site activities.
- Provide on-site technical support and training when required.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MV/LV switchgear commissioning and maintenance.
- Knowledge of protection systems, control logic, and test equipment
- Familiarity with major switchgear OEMs (e.g., Schneider, ABB, Siemens, Eaton).
- Valid electrical work permit/license (ANRE).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong hands-on technical and troubleshooting skills.
- My ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Good understanding of power system protection and control.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Physically fit and willing to travel to site locations and work extended hours if needed.
- English language
