Position Overview:

Join our dynamic team as a Field Service Engineer, working on cutting-edge diesel and electric locomotives, passenger coaches, and full train sets that connect cities across North America. You'll be part of an experienced team in an exciting environment, collaborating closely with customers, Siemens Mobility departments worldwide, and our on-site Field Service Teams. Your main goal will be to ensure high customer satisfaction and deliver reliable products.

Based at our Field Service Location in Croton-Harmon, NY, you'll immerse yourself in learning and understanding the equipment and our customers' needs. You'll start with hands-on experience and gradually transition to resolving reliability issues and addressing customer concerns.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Support the commissioning and warranty of Siemens electric and diesel locomotives, passenger coach cars, and trainsets.
  • Adhere to company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
  • Embrace a hands-on approach to learning the equipment, with the first 1-2 years focused on hands-on work before transitioning to engineering topics.
  • Read, interpret, and understand written or electronic information to identify the root cause of failures and compile reports for your site lead and warranty manager.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze failures on locomotives, coaches, or trainsets.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions in locomotive control circuits and components, assess the nature of problems, and identify corrective actions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs of various components using mechanical drawings, schematics, and location circuit plans.
  • Document failures, part exchanges, implementation of Field Modifications (FMIs), and your performed work in our commissioning and warranty database.
  • Implement FMIs to improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with Siemens Engineering to drive improvements.
  • Work with vendors to understand root cause analysis and report findings to the end customer.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Prior experience within Engineering field is required. Education beyond requirements will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Strong ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Willingness to work in the field on the equipment.
  • Up to 25% travelling required on a regular basis.
  • Motivation to work across multiple systems and develop core competencies beyond engineering field of study.
  • Eagerness to learn new software programs in a continuously evolving environment.

This position is based in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
