The Utility Systems & Solutions business within Siemens’ Electrification & Automation (EA) unit is dedicated to expanding and advancing EA’s presence in the Utility and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) markets. Our comprehensive product portfolio includes medium-voltage switchgear (AIS & GIS), outdoor circuit breakers, MV control systems, power equipment centers, overhead & underground distribution products, low-voltage motor control centers, photovoltaic (PV) inverters, and a range of supplementary MV and LV products. These offerings are integrated into complete, customized electrical packaged solutions for utility distribution systems, substations, power plants, and renewable energy projects.
We are looking for a Technical Solutions Manager, Overhead Power Distribution Systems. This position will be based remotely in the US with a 30% travel requirement.
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Solutions Manager, Overhead Distribution Systems to serve as our internal and external technical authority on the design, protection, control, automation, and integration of overhead distribution systems. This individual will bring extensive expertise in the engineering design of utility distribution systems, advanced protection & control (P&C) systems, and distribution automation, guiding the application of Siemens products in both new and existing network designs.
This role will work closely with utility customers, engineering firms, and EPC partners to design integrated solutions, ensuring the seamless application of Siemens products. The individual will also act as a liaison between customers, business development teams, and internal product management and R&D groups, ensuring that Siemens' solutions meet evolving customer needs. Additionally, this expert will play a key role in developing and delivering training programs through our Power Academy, ensuring internal teams and external customers are equipped with the knowledge needed for success.
You’ll make a difference with the following duties:
Customer & Business Development Support
- Serve as the primary technical expert for overhead distribution system design, protection, control, and automation integration.
- Work directly with utility customers, engineering firms, and EPC partners to design optimal system architectures that integrate Siemens products into their existing distribution systems.
- Provide strategic support to business development and sales teams, offering tailored customer solutions, technical consulting, and involvement in customer engagements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers integrating Siemens overhead distribution products and systems into their networks.
Internal Liaison and Voice of Customer
- Act as a key liaison between customer engineering teams and Siemens product management, R&D, and engineering teams.
- Provide critical Voice of Customer (VoC) feedback to guide product improvements, system integration capabilities, and application support.
- Influence new product development by identifying customer needs, technical requirements, and emerging industry trends.
Training and Knowledge Development
- Lead the creation and delivery of comprehensive technical training content for internal sales, engineering, and support teams.
- Develop and deliver external training sessions to customers through Siemens' Power Academy.
- Maintain and expand a library of application notes, technical guides, and standard methodologies for overhead distribution protection, control, and automation.
Solution Design and Application Engineering
- Perform detailed system studies, protection coordination reviews, and provide recommendations for automation design.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including technical descriptions, application guidelines, and solution architectures.
- Provide guidance on the selection, application, and integration of Siemens overhead distribution products and protection devices into customer networks.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of extensive expertise with the following:
- Overhead power distribution system engineering, with a focus on protection, control, automation, and engineering design.
- Demonstrated proficiency in system protection schemes, distribution automation, and control architectures for overhead distribution systems.
- Strong experience in customer-facing technical roles supporting product application, solution design, or system integration.
- In-depth understanding of utility distribution system design, including integration of protection, control, and automation technologies.
- Power distribution automation and communication knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel for customer visits, project support, and training delivery as needed up to 30%. Limited international travel.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience with Siemens distribution automation and protection products.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, IEC) applicable to distribution systems, protection engineering, and automation.
- Experience with engineering tools such as ASPEN, CYME, ETAP, or similar distribution modeling and coordination software.
- Power distribution communication protocols such as DNP 3.0, TCP/IP, and cellular networks.
- Prior experience developing and delivering advanced technical training to internal and external teams.

- The pay range for this position is $120,640 - $206,640 plus incentive. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
