We are currently seeking a talented and driven Data Engineer to join our growing Digital team, playing a critical role in powering analytics and data infrastructure to support rail operations and maintenance use cases. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of our AWS-based data and reporting platform for Siemens Mobility UK Rolling Stock, supporting the delivery of train service contracts for our customers.
You’ll create impact by ….
- Turning complex data and business requirements into scalable AWS-based data solutions, working closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and stakeholders.
- Designing, building, and supporting end-to-end data pipelines and infrastructure that power analytics and reporting for Siemens Mobility UK.
- Leading the technical delivery of secure, reliable DevOps practices while proactively resolving emerging issues across reporting and database systems.
- Ensuring all AWS-native data services are fully documented, maintained, and supported, including acting as third-line technical support.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to enable seamless data exchange and integration across rail fleet systems.
- Championing a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, aligning your work with Siemens’ values and behavioural standards.
Your success will be grounded by …
- A degree-level foundation in Computer Science, coupled with hands-on experience building cloud-based data pipelines, preferably within AWS environments.
- Strong programming skills in SQL and Python, enabling efficient data processing and analytics workflow development.
- Practical experience designing and managing relational or NoSQL databases, data warehouses, or analytical datastores.
- Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell or Bash, alongside a working knowledge of CI/CD practices (e.g., GitLab CI) to support modern DevOps workflows.
- A detail-oriented and self-motivated approach, with the ability to manage competing technical requirements across complex systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to translate technical solutions into business value.
- Desirable experience with tools like Snowflake, Apache Airflow, and AWS certification—or demonstrable equivalent knowledge—will help you thrive from day one.
