What you’ll be doing as part the STS team in Spain
Team and context:
At Siemens, we develop cutting-edge tools and methodologies to support the testing and validation of aerospace structures and components. Dynamic environmental testing is necessary to ensure that the equipment can withstand the most extreme conditions expected during operation and perform its mission without compromising sensitive instruments. The Structures & Environmental Testing team specializes in developing innovative solutions to characterize structural response and design precise physical tests for mechanical qualification of products.
Project description:
Modern aerospace engineering faces unprecedented challenges in vibration testing as structures become increasingly complex, while industry demands shorter development cycles and more efficient qualification processes. Current durability testing methodologies often fall short in replicating real-world damage mechanisms, highlighting the need for more sophisticated approaches. The increasing adoption of multi-axis shaker platforms has opened the way to executing more advanced vibration tests that simulate the operational dynamic environments with higher fidelity. This project focuses on the introduction of novel methodologies for quantifying fatigue damage severity under multi-axis loading conditions.
What we’re looking for
We're seeking for master students on Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or similar. If you love creative problem-solving in whole chain of CAE solutions, testing methods, research analysis and numerical coding, and have strong communication skills, we want you!
- Strong interest in aerospace structures and experimental testing
- Knowledge of fatigue and vibration analysis, as well as signal processing
- Experience of programming languages, such as Matlab, Python, ...
