In Egypt, Siemens Mobility is implementing the European safety standards “European Train Control System (ETCS)” Level 1. Spanning 950 km, this project is part of the broader Egypt National Railways Projects and aims to enhance the safety standards, increase the number of passenger trains, and boost freight capacity.
Today, we are recruiting for a Senior Signaling Engineer to join our team in Egypt. You will lead and deliver ETCS L1 hardware & SW engineering across wayside (balises, LEU cabinets, power/cabling, diagnostics) from requirements and design through FAT/SAT, site integration, and acceptance—ensuring full compliance with CENELEC and Siemens Mobility processes.
What are my responsibilities?
- Translate contractual and system requirements into implementable hardware designs and BoMs; manage traceability through the engineering lifecycle (requirements, design , verification ,validation & acceptance).
- Produce and/or review design packs (schematics, wiring/cabling plans, cabinet layouts, interfaces, balise layout plans) and ensure design freeze.
- Plan and execute FAT/SAT, support integration tests and demonstrations as per the Test & Commissioning Management Plan and Integrated System Demonstration program.
- Contribute to Safety Case evidence (V&V, SIL compliance inputs) and to RAM and project SRS.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with customer representatives and external stakeholders (e.g., Subcontractors, interlocking suppliers & project consultant) to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and acceptance; resolve non conformances and enact design changes with controlled configuration
- Uphold EHS requirements and Siemens processes at all times; lead by example on safe-by-design and safe-by-construction principles.
- Engineer balise group layouts, LEU cabinet designs, power distribution and diagnostic solutions for ETCS L1 trackside, including cable routing and environmental constraints.
- Prepare hardware & data engineering packages and conduct Site Survey.
- Assure that the hardware drawings reflect the trenching drawings solutions.
- Responsible for issuance and clarification of RFI’s and FCN’s with the project owners and obtaining the necessary information/approvals.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, electronics, Telecommunications, Automation, or similar).
- Technical knowledge on main subsystems of a railway project.
- Experience in reading and understanding technical requirements
- Good understanding of Systems Engineering lifecycle.
- Good understanding/knowledge about railway principles and standard is a must
- Key leadership skills demanded by the role and similar experience at least for a period >5 years.
- Knowledge of engineering processes.
- Communication skills.
- Proficient English language required.
