The People and Organization Development Office leads the implementation of the People Plan, a holistic long-term plan that engages and supports employees throughout their tenure at SFU. This Office encompasses learning and development, wellness and recovery, leadership growth and administrative services such as recruitment and retention.
This position will also work closely with the Human Resources and Labour Relations Office which creates and maintains the framework and processes that allow our people to thrive. This Office holds strong relationships with our employee groups, and oversees our HR data systems, collective agreements, compensation and immigration services.

About the Role

The Human Resources Associate is part of the HR Research People Team and plays a key role in providing HR services to faculty, staff and research employees across the University. The Human Resources Associate creates and/or maintains all electronic and paper employment records for union and non-union groups. The role is responsible for providing general support on the full employment life cycle by processing research employee's records and responding to faculty and staff inquiries. This position is responsible for performing confidential clerical, secretarial, and administrative duties supporting employment, labor relations, external relations, and governance activities for the University.

The Human Resources Administrative Services Team is seeking someone with experience in working with a Human Resources Information System (preferably PeopleSoft). This person should bring a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with strict deadlines. They should be capable of working independently while also supporting the goals of the larger-team. We are looking for someone with an ability and interest to foster a positive and rewarding employment experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or Administrative Management or a related field and two years directly related experience or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of complex Human Resource/Payroll enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
