IMPORTANT NOTE: At least one term of experience as an Audio / Video Engineer II (General) or Audio / Video Engineer II (Music Department Specialist) or equivalent experience required.

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):

To provide audio, video, lighting, and media production services for events occurring on campus during the summer term. We create live and on-demand audio and video products for distribution on various media platforms and technical support for a wide range of events, primarily Commencement and Reunion Weekends.

Transferable Skills:

  • Audio and video engineering, as established via prior training.
  • Knowledge of sound propagation patterns for various instruments and ensembles.
  • Ability to select appropriate equipment and configurations to capture quality sound and video.
  • Video production including camera operation, live line-cut switching, graphics, routing, and editing using industry standard equipment and software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to utilize standards of practice in the fields of audio, video, and live sound engineering.
  • Ability to work independently, work with a team, take leadership where necessary, interact with public and college officials on a professional level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Select, assemble, and operate audio and video recording equipment to produce, record, and stream presentations during the summer, primarily for Commencement and Reunion Weekends
  • Provide Technical Support and setup / strike labor of microphones, speakers, lighting, projection, and other technical equipment during Commencement and Reunion Weekends.
  • Interact with students, faculty, staff, and other internal and external personnel at all levels (up to and including college president/dignitaries) as needed to perform job tasks.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills):

• Passionate interest in technical and creative aspects of audio and video production.
• Enjoyment of classical music and good listening skills.
• Clear and concise communication ability.
• Strong work ethic, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail.


Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs., operating hand tools, and operating equipment or machinery to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise and heights or cramped quarters, as well as rare exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
