This role will be responsible for design, development and software facilitating our goals of the enterprise technology organization. They will work cross-functionally and with a global mindset to ensure our stores are receiving best-in-class technology support, specifically around supply chain and inventory solutions. It will be your job to collaborate with world class speed to the changing needs of the stores, in turn providing a quality Starbucks Experience to fulfill our mission to nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection.

This role partners closely with our other supply chain engineering peers, but is focused on fast-sprint level delivery to ensure the growth of the company. This job is all about execution. It offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by spearheading technology-driven initiatives and rapid response that enhance our operational efficiency, sustainability practices and overall business performance on a global scale. This role is perfect for an engineering leader who likes to roll up their sleeves, get into their IDE and help our partners deploy faster than previously possible.

As an engineer lead, you will…

  • Be responsible for end-to-end solution implementation, including reporting and telemetry
  • Ensure safe deployment practices and secure delivery with pace
  • Work with stakeholders to define key business outcomes and roadmaps via technology delivery
  • Make decisions around digital technology within supply chain management ensuring our microservice strategy enables increasing nimble reactions
  • Deliver value to customers by leveraging data analytics to understand customer preferences, optimize inventory management and ultimately enhance the overall customer experience
  • Act as a leader to other engineers across the supply chain and enterprise tech
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape as digital tools and methodologies reshape supply chain operations

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 8-10 years of professional industry experience with software development
  • 2 years of leading teams of four or more software developers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl and/or Ruby.
  • 5+ years experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
  • Able to build robust data engineering pipelines for ML and LLM consumption
  • Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize code, primarily in backend.
  • Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations
  • Deep Knowledge in application development and supporting a development environment
  • Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine)
  • Deep Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, Data Protection, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical environments
  • Knowledge in databases and comfortable with various databases technologies
  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
  • Years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills (minimum needed to be qualified): 7+ years
