Pay Range $65,000 - $77,200

Job Description
Syracuse University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a skilled and experienced Functional Business Analyst to serve as the subject matter expert for the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Campus Community module, as well as managing other ERP related projects. This position plays a central role in sustaining the integrity, performance, and evolution of the University’s enterprise ERP environment and serves as a critical bridge between technical development teams and the business stakeholders they serve.

This is a project-forward role with approximately 40% of effort directed toward operational system maintenance and support, and 60% dedicated to strategic initiatives, system upgrades, new implementations, and ongoing accessibility and security improvements. The right candidate brings PeopleSoft expertise, a talent for translating complex technical concepts into clear and actionable solutions, and the discipline to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced higher education environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Skills and Knowledge
PeopleSoft Experience
  • Three (3+) years with PeopleSoft HCM, Campus Solutions, or Financials; Campus Community preferred.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft security, administration, and integration technologies (Integration Broker, web services, file layouts).
Business Analysis Skills
  • Strong requirements gathering; ability to produce functional specifications, use cases, and SDLC documentation.
  • Data analysis skills with ability to interpret complex datasets.
Technical Competencies
  • Advanced SQL and database concepts; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio).
  • Working knowledge of AI tools to streamline processes; ability to identify opportunities to reduce manual effort.
  • Working knowledge of AI-powered tools and their potential to streamline and improve business processes. Ability to identify opportunities where AI solutions can reduce manual effort and support data-driven decision-making. Familiarity with AI assistants (such as Anthropic’s Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and a willingness to apply them in functional analysis and documentation activities.
Professional Skills
  • Strong project management, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative, customer-focused, and able to work independently.
Higher Education Knowledge (preferred)
  • Familiarity with higher ed processes, student lifecycle, SIS best practices, and Fluid UI.
  • CBAP or PMP certification; knowledge of WCAG accessibility and compliance (FERPA, Title IV, IPEDS, Clery, ISO).
Responsibilities
Enterprise System Leadership
  • Serve as the University’s functional expert for the Campus Community module.
  • Configure and maintain delivered PeopleSoft functionality to university departments on Campus Solutions data models and the government regulations.

  • Gather and document business requirements,
Technical Consultation and Project Delivery
  • Provide expert functional and technical consultation to university departments.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic initiatives including accessibility improvements, security de-customization projects, and the implementation of delivered Oracle tools such as Page and Field Configurator, Data Masking, and Track Changes.
  • Support the integration of PeopleSoft systems with cloud-based vendor solutions and third-party platforms, including Slate for admissions and SU Mobile via Modo Labs, ensuring that data flows accurately between systems and that integrations are implemented to institutional standards.
