Job Description:

The Head of US Technology Governance is responsible for overseeing and managing technology risk across the organization. This role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with technology operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices in risk management.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Leads the identification and assessment of inherent technology risks
  • Develops and implements risk assessment frameworks and methodologies
  • Ensures comprehensive risk identification and assessment processes are monitored
  • Designs and implements effective risk mitigation strategies and controls
  • Monitors and implements changes to Control Standards & Design including impact/remediation plans to in-scope applications
  • Manages the process for Technology Asset Owners (TAOs) or Technology Control Officers (TCOs) to self-identify potential risks, validate risk exposure and designed structure time-based remediation plans
  • Partners to develop an AMCB / US Technology Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) inputs and management
  • Monitors active MRA progression to closure and ensure completeness and accuracy of regulatory updates on commitment completion, remaining risk objectives and resultant risk reduction
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Supports the preparation of materials and present to Technology & Business leadership, and the quarterly Technology Committee. Further collaborate for materials supplied to both the Executive Risk Committee and the Technology Risk Oversight Council
  • Develops and operates a robust set of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators related to risk management
  • Communicates risk-related issues and recommendations to both Technology & Business stakeholders
  • Fosters a risk-activated culture within the organization
  • Participates in the response to technology-related incidents and breaches
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensures timely and effective communication during incidents
  • Participates in regular internal audits / SOX audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Prepares for regulatory exams by reviewing and updating all relevant documentation. Develops a comprehensive checklist to ensure all regulatory requirements are met during exams
  • Stays abreast of emerging technology risks and trends
  • Continuously improves risk management practices and processes
  • Promotes innovation and best practices in technology risk management

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in technology risk management, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, FFIEC)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
