Job Description:

TD Securities Trade & Working Capital product team is seeking a director level Core Trade & FI Trade Product Manager to lead our bank’s traditional trade and financial institutions (FI) trade business across the entire client segment (Commercial banking, Wholesale Banking Clients). This is a senior, high-impact role for a seasoned trade finance professional who brings deep product expertise, market intelligence, and execution discipline to drive revenue, risk-optimized growth, and product modernization across the platform. This is a mission-critical role for an individual with a strong commercial instinct, and clear vision for modernizing and scaling the core trade business. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker, entrepreneurial and an execution driver, someone who takes ownership of products and platforms with regulatory fluency and cross-border experience (U.S. and Canada).

The Core Trade & FI Trade Product Manager will lead product strategy and execution across Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs), Import/Export Letters of Credit (LCs), Documentary Collections, FI Trade Loans, and Reimbursements, with an emphasis on market relevance, client impact, and profitability. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, build-oriented, collaborative environment and is driven by tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the product manager for Core Trade including SBLCs, Import/Export LCs, Documentary Collections, and related instruments and for FI Trade products such as Trade Loans, Bank-to-Bank Reimbursements, and Risk Participations.
  • Own the product lifecycle: from strategic roadmap, pricing, and structuring to operational design, regulatory compliance, and end-to-end delivery.
  • Drive portfolio optimization, including profitability analysis, limit utilization, risk-return enhancements, and client penetration strategies across trade corridors.
  • Strong command of credit principles, risk participation, counterparty frameworks, and trade-related compliance.
  • Partner with Origination, Credit, Risk, Operations, and Legal to structure bankable solutions that support client needs while protecting the bank’s balance sheet.
  • Act as subject matter expert on North American trade finance practices, ICC rules (UCP, ISP, URR, URC), regulatory frameworks (OCC, OFAC, Basel), and local market nuances. Experience with Canadian trade finance frameworks, including policy, regulatory, and credit considerations.
  • Provide commercial leadership to evolve our offerings whether through product simplification, digitization, or enhanced credit distribution frameworks.
  • Enable front-office growth by supporting origination with client pitches, structuring complex transactions, and equipping bankers with competitive positioning insights.
  • Proactively monitor industry developments to identify risks, unlock opportunities, and influence product strategy through an informed, future-forward lens.
  • Lead product governance and partner with Trade Technology teams on platform upgrades, data/reporting improvements, and workflow digitization.
  • Collaborative, decisive, and resilient, someone who takes initiative, embraces accountability, and builds momentum with and through others.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in trade finance, with deep knowledge of Standby LCs (financial, performance, syndications, bid bonds, etc.), Import/Export Letters of Credit, and FI trade structures.
  • Strong background in the North American market, with an ability to translate client requirements into practical, risk-aligned trade solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across cross-functional teams in a evolving environment.
  • Sound credit acumen, comfortable structuring around counterparty risk, country risk, and documentation nuances.
  • Track record of product transformation, digitization, and innovation while maintaining controls and market discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to influence internal stakeholders and represent the bank in client, industry, and regulatory forums.
  • Familiarity with trade platforms (CGI, LoanIQ and Komgo) and ecosystem players (FI networks, DLT initiatives) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or ICC trade certifications preferred.
