Pay Range

The pay range for this position is between $125,000.00 – $240,000.00.

Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. The Home Depot offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits, which may include a performance-based bonus program or a profit sharing program depending on position.

Position Purpose:

As a Staff Software Engineer in Supply Chain, you will play a critical role in developing software that empowers warehouse associates with visibility into warehouse management and execution systems, including conveyor routing, sortation, order streaming, goods-to-person solutions, and task and labor optimization.

In this role, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining products that warehouse associates rely on every day. You’ll work alongside a dynamic group of engineers at all experience levels, fostering collaboration, technical growth, and leadership development while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. Beyond development, you will also guide decisions around product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will contribute to reusable foundational code, architectural diagrams, and other product documentation. You’ll serve as a core member of a balanced team, mentoring junior engineers, and helping them expand both their technical expertise and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position, with frequent opportunities to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • 5-8 years of relevant work experience
    • Has a deep understanding of warehousing and logistics and understands how their software impacts the performance and processes of operation teams.
    • Experience developing execution, dashboard, and reporting systems for warehouse management and sortation systems, merge systems, goods to person systems, order streaming/work release systems, automation, robotics, and warehouse execution systems
    • Experience with front-end and back-end technologies, including React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, object-oriented programming languages (preferably Java), Spring Boot, and Node.js.
    • Relational or NoSQL database technology, cloud computing techniques, edge computing, CI/CD tools, and modern software design patterns
    • Experience with security frameworks for user and service authorization and authentication
    • Experience with creating and executing unit, functional, destructive, and performance tests
    • Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
    • Experience with a version control system
    • NoSQL: Proficiency with BigTable, Cassandra, or HBase
    • Big Data Platforms: Experience with BigQuery
    • Hands-on experience building AI copilots or autonomous task agents that improve engineering productivity or operational throughput.

Remote/virtual – An associate in a remote/virtual role typically is not required to work from a designated Home Depot location to complete their job duties. Limited or infrequent in-office presence may be required. We also refer to this as location – independent.
