POSITION SPECIFICS

The Translational Neuroimaging and Systems Neuroscience Lab (TNSNL) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill an Assistant Research Professor position to conduct small animal fMRI and/or electrophysiology studies funded by NIH grant. TNSNL studies neural circuit function and brain network organization in awake and anesthetized rodents by combining fMRI, electrophysiology, chemogenetic/optogenetic and behavioral approaches, as well as uses these techniques to characterize animal models of mental disorders.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, MCIBS, Biology, Physics or a related discipline. Candidates with expertise in small animal fMRI, in vivo electrophysiology, and/or neuroimaging data analysis are encouraged to apply.

The position will be in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department and affiliated with the Penn State Institute of Neurosciences, as well as the Center for neural engineering. The Penn State BME department, Institute of Neurosciences of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (http://www.huck.psu.edu) provide a rich environment in which faculty, research professors, postdocs and graduate/undergraduate students regularly interact and conduct collaborative studies. Affiliated faculty, staff and students have access to the Institutes’ state-of-the-art core facilities.
