POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pan Research Group at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Research Professor to join a leading research group in cutting-edge research in electrochemical devices. This position focuses on the development of next-generation electrochemical platforms for biosensing applications.


Led by Prof. Dipanjan Pan, Pan Research Group at Penn State, University Park fosters research excellence, education, and industry collaboration in nanomedicine (broadly defined). The laboratories are located at the world-renowned Huck Institute of Life Sciences and Millennium Sciences Complex within the flagship University Park campus that promotes an inclusive and multidisciplinary environment in life sciences research.


The selected candidate will work within a fast-paced multidisciplinary research environment and contribute to the design, fabrication, and optimization of electrochemical devices, exploring novel electrode materials, miniaturization strategies, and real-time analytical capabilities primarily for biosensing applications.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or D.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related fields.

A proven track record (ideally multiple first author publications in internationally reputed journals) in one or more of the following technical areas:

  • Electrochemical sensors and devices and deep understanding of electrochemical measurements.

  • Microfluidic or lab-on-a-chip and experience with clean-room facilities Advanced materials for electrode fabrication and surface modifications.

  • In situ and operando electrochemical characterization techniques.

We are looking for highly self-motivated candidates who:

  • Can work independently while collaborating in a multidisciplinary research team comprised of chemists, materials scientists, biologists, engineers and medical students.

  • Can work without daily instructions or supervision and proactively make progress.

  • Demonstrate creativity and adaptability in solving research challenges.

  • Are highly organized, goal-oriented, and can operate within a fast-paced environment collaborating with industry partners.

  • Have experience with novel 2D materials and/or molecularly imprinted polymers (preferred).

  • Have English proficiency and experience in independently drafting manuscripts.

  • Have strong experimental, analytical, and troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
