Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Lead Software Engineer - Big Data in Palo Alto, CA. This position is with Talech, Inc., a U.S. Bank company.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Lead Software Engineer - Big Data will build and implement the data platform framework to enable reporting of sales and orders to customers of Talech POS solution; build Apache Spark pipelines to write time series data to Apache Druid for time series reporting of customer sales and orders; collaborate with product managers and API teams to identify any data quality issues and address them in the pipeline implementation; build a Spark bulk loading process to Druid for different ETL’s that allows customers to query and visualize sales/refunds and tax related time-series data for custom timeframes; and architect and design new solutions and frameworks for data platform team as part of tech modernization journey. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location. Multiple positions.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires at least a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Required Skills/Experience:
Requires 5 years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Big Data Engineer, or related. Must possess 5 years of experience with each of the following: (a) designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining products; (b) taking full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code; (c) creating optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; (d) considering scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs; (e) performing analysis on failures, propose design changes, and encourage operational improvements; (f) making sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront; (g) taking feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards; (h) conducting code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures; (i) ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices; (j) software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standards; (k) reviewing tasks critically and ensuring they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery; (l) anticipating and communicating blockers and delays before they require escalation; and (m) Utilizing the following tools/technologies: Java; Python; Spark/PySpark; Kafka; AWS; Docker; Airflow; Apache Druid; EMR; S3; Kubernetes; BigQuery; and MySQL. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location.
