Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Software Engineer – Digital Channel Development in Irving, Texas.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer – Digital Channel Development will work on Android application development, testing, and deployment. Essential responsibilities include:
- Writing Code: Developing and writing efficient, reusable, and reliable code for Android applications using Java, Kotlin, or other relevant languages. This includes creating UI elements, implementing business logic, and integrating with backend services.
- Testing and Debugging: Writing unit tests and UI tests using frameworks like JUnit to ensure code quality and functionality. Debugging using Android Studio tools to identify and fix bugs, memory leaks, and performance issues.
- System Design: Designing the architecture of Android application, including choosing the appropriate design patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVP) and ensuring the app is scalable and maintainable. This involves planning the app's structure, navigation flow, and data management.
- Code Reviews: Conducting thorough code reviews on merge requests from team members, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and design patterns. Reviewing for potential bugs, code readability, and performance improvements.
- Requirements Analysis: Collaborating with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for new features and enhancements. Translating business needs into technical specifications and identifying potential challenges and solutions.
- Software Documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including user guides, API documentation, technical specifications, and inline code comments to ensure clarity and facilitate future maintenance.
- Project Management: Managing and overseeing Android development projects, including setting milestones, tracking progress, and coordinating with team members to ensure timely delivery of features and updates. Using tools like Jira for task management and tracking.
- Performance Optimization: Identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing code to improve the speed and efficiency of Android applications. Using profiling tools in Android Studio to analyze CPU, memory, and network usage, and implementing improvements as needed.
- Security Implementation: Implementing security best practices to protect Android applications from vulnerabilities. This includes securing data storage, using encryption, implementing secure communication protocols, and following guidelines for app permissions and user data protection.
- Research and Development: Staying up-to-date with the latest Android development trends, tools, and technologies, such as Jetpack libraries, Android, and Kotlin coroutines. Experimenting with new features and integrating them into projects to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Version Control Management: Using version control systems like Git to manage code changes, collaborate with team members, and maintain a clean and organized codebase. Creating branches for feature development, bug fixes, and releases, and managing pull requests and code merges.
- Software Maintenance: Maintaining and updating existing Android applications to ensure they remain functional, compatible with new OS versions, and relevant to users. This includes fixing bugs, adding new features, and improving performance based on user feedback and analytics.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring the quality of Android applications through rigorous testing practices, including writing and executing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests. Collaborating with QA testers to identify and resolve issues and performing manual testing to verify app behavior and user experience.
Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location. Multiple Positions.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering plus 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must possess 1 year of experience with all of the following: providing software system design, coding, and testing services; enhancing user experience and visual appeal of applications; migrating codebase and improving code readability and maintainability; streamline communication between components in the codebase, enhancing code organization and responsiveness; Git management to ensure version control, collaboration and codebase integrity; development of unit tests for application activities; Android application development; Android Studio; Kotlin; RxKotlin; Java; JavaScript; Charles Proxy, and Jenkins. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location. Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $103,351.00 - $136,500.
